24-month contract involving numerous high-profile IT initiatives as follows:
Four-month contract which involved management of a software development project which was in its development phase. Responsibilities included improvement in processes, project management, requirements refinement, test plan development, test case development and execution, release management, and consultation with executive leadership regarding opportunities for improvement.
Elicited, documented, and managed business and system requirements for Capital One's mainframe system of record for cardholder account information. Collaborated with business analysts, technical designers, developers, and testing teams during project lifecycle to ensure quality deliverables. Adhered to phased software development methodology to support company's compliance with CMM Level II.
Tasks involved elicitation and documentation of requirements, management of traceability, change control, defects, and project risks, test plan development, project estimation, and release and configuration management.
Worked on development team responsible for evolution of the Capital One's n-tiered client/server object-oriented call center application. Elicited, developed, and documented business and system requirements through use cases, sequence and class diagrams, and supplementary specifications, following phased software development methodology. Managed requirements using DOORS. Participated in the design and execution of test plans, including test cases for use by developers and testing team. Participated in the evaluation and analysis of usability enhancements.

Received assignment by President of LandAmerica to take over management of a development department suffering from lack of processes, poor performance, high error ratios, and three administrations of ineffective management. This department was responsible for the development of Word templates to be used in conjunction with Elliptus' SQL-based title production system. The inability of this department to maintain production quotas was impacting LandAmerica's enterprise-wide standardization and consolidation efforts due to three corporate mergers.
Accomplishments within the first month on the project:
Managed Technical Communication Department with three writers. Developed all departmental processes and workflows, with an emphasis on quality control. Accomplishments include:
Hired as Training and Documentation Manager. Managed all aspects of instructor-led training and technical communication, including five trainers and two writers. Developed and implemented departmental processes leading to training delivery with a 95% approval rating. Authored training manual and managed the delivery of an instructor-led training program for the company's title production software system delivered across the country. As department grew, hired new Training Manager and transitioned to management of the newly established Technical Communication Department.
Firm's network administrator left precipitiously. Was called in to maintain 80-person Novell 3.12 network for two-week period until network administrator was brought on board. Handled all aspects of network administration; software installation, troubleshooting, configuration, and user support. Documented entire network configuration for future administration. Conducted network configuration analysis and provided recommendations for improvement.
Development of legal web site containing law and research of Diego C. Asencio, Esq. Includes forms and CGI scripts and unique design duplicating the look of a legal outline.
On-site for training and support two weeks following upgrade from DOS to Windows environment. This project included conversion of WordPerfect 5.1 DOS macros to the 6.1 Windows environment (included complete re-write of many), installation and configuration of Novell GroupWise 4.1, conversion of Office 3.1 mail system to GroupWise 4.1, transition training for WP Office to GroupWise 4.1, configuration of Program Manager to run all DOS apps that will continue to be used, and one-on-one task-based training focusing on how to accomplish in Windows what was done in DOS.
Support of Novell 3.12 network, including administration, training and troubleshooting. Recently assisted in the installation of Windows 95 workstation, including training on interface and use of the Internet.
